Church Government

The Bible clearly teaches that Christ is the head of the church (Ephesians 5:23, Colossians 1:18). Furthermore, the local church has the responsibility of governing its affairs. I believe that a congregational church government, where the people of the church hold final decision making authority, is in alignment with the Biblical principles of church organization. As a church grows in unity and maturity, it becomes easier and easier for the congregation to run the church. When membership is restricted to those who have shown themselves to be Christians, and when the church is willing to discipline errant members, the congregation will be able to govern itself through the power of the Holy Spirit.
