Christmas Traditions

This is the week of Christmas.  This is the first year that I will be running the Christmas eve service (tonight at a certain Grand Junction Church) and I am looking forward to it.  We do a traditional candlelight service each year and there is usually a pretty good turnout.

I don't know who started the idea of a candlelight service, but I am guessing it was people who didn't have lightbulbs.  I sometimes wonder what kinds of traditions we are starting in the church today just because we don't have the capability of doing things differently.  Maybe years from now there will be special projector services where the words to sing are put up on a large screen instead of using the holographic hymnals.
