Church Hunt

After a year of "hunting" and trying to find out where God is going to take me, I share my story of hope and madness in hunting for a church.  I never knew how long it would take to find a church.  Even now, I don't know when the process will end, but I have found contentment where I am...

One year ago, I began the placement process; trying to discern where God wanted me to minister. I setup a profile on MinisterConnection.net, met with Free Church District superintendants, got to know the various districts, had my resume sent out to churches far and wide, and then... I waited. Now, I didn't expect too much right away, and I wasn't worried about it; after all, I had a preaching gig setup for the summer and figured I could use that time to look for a permanent church.

Well, over the summer I heard back from several churches. It was exciting to talk to them, even if I wouldn't have been excited to actually go to some of them. There were a couple of opportunities where we talked really seriously about the position and I decided not to come and condidate. It is hard to decide that a church is not right, especially when the process takes so long, but I figure that in the grand scheme of things I would rather wait a couple of months longer and get into a church that I can really be effective in.
