A New House

Angela and I have just moved across town into a larger apartment.  It is a little bit bigger, a little bit cheaper, and the roof doesn't leak, so we consider it a win-win-WIN situation.  There is still a sense of dread with moving, even when you are moving to a better place, because moving means packing.

At least for my wife and I, packing is not something we look forward to.  It involves sorting all of our old stuff and deciding if there is anything to get rid of (and in our house there always is).  It involves diligently trying on old clothes and deciding if we still like them for about a quarter of the closet and then giving up and throwing everything into a box for the rest.

Seeing the giant pile of boxes waiting to be unpacked in the new place makes me wonder what things I would really need.  The sort of "What would you save in a fire" question.  I realized that I have lots of boxes of things that I wouldn't hardly miss.  In fact, except for the basic clothes/furniture/food, I could maintain everything I do with just my computer and a library card.

So if there was a fire, I would take my laptop, and then I would sign up for a library card.
